- the game screen:
- this screen can be divided
- up into 3 main portions.
- These poritons include the
- top information area, the
- icon bar, and the character
- reference on the bottom of
- the screen.

- ...top information area...
- 3d-view:
- this window is located in the
- upper left-hand corner and
- provides a view of the outside
- world. Through this 3d view,
- a player can see the world
- about.

- text window:
- this window, located in the
- upper right-hand corner, gives
- a descripiton of certain areas
- that the player may be currently
- in. It will also display any
- text that is spoker towards
- the party.

- arrow icons:
- these icons will allow the
- party to move about the 3d
- world. this movement can also
- be accomplished by using the
- arrow keys.

- camp icon:
- this icon will allow the party
- to make camp. it is important
- to note that the party can only
- camp in the dungeons. camping
- will heal injured characters
- and restore lost magic energy.
- bewarned, many a party has been
- ambushed while they slept.

- cast icon:
- this icon is in the shape of
- a hand with a ball floating
- above it. this will allow a
- character to cast a spell from
- outside combat. upon selection
- of this icon, you will be asked
- to choose a character. a spell
- menu will then appear at the
- top of the screen. to cast a
- spell, simply click on the
- spell name. To select from
- higher level spells, use the
- level icons that are situated
- above the spell listing. to
- abort the casting of a spell,
- select the quit icon that
- appears on the right portion
- of the menu.

- examine icon:
- this icon is depicted by a
- close-up shot of a human head.
- you can either examine some-
- thing in the 3d window, or
- examine an item. if you choose
- to examine an item, you are
- asked to choose a character.
- the characters inventory will
- then appear and you can now
- select the item. information
- will appear in the text window.
- to end an examination session,
- click on the characters
- portrait in the upper left-hand
- corner of the screen.

- use icon:
- this icon is depicted by a hand
- using a lever. this icon
- works in the same fashion as
- the examine icon, except you
- will use the item that you
- select.

- disk options:
- this icon is depicted by a
- small computer. there are
- five disk options that are
- available. to use any one,
- click on the text in the
- text window.
- 1. save game: this option will
- save the game that is currently
- in progress. it is important
- to note that only parties that
- have been saved in the wilder-
- ness or in one of the cities
- may be operated on from the
- main menu.
- 2. load game: this option will
- load a game from the last
- saved game position.
- 3. main menu: this will return
- the player to the main menu,
- ie the beginning of the game.
- 4. exit to dos: this will end
- the game session and return
- to dos. It does not save the
- game.
- 5. abort: this will exit from
- the disk options menu.

- compass icon:
- though this is not a useable
- icon, it will provide a party
- with valuable information and
- is an invaluable mapping tool.

- ....character reference....
- there are four character slabs
- located at the bottom of the
- screen. Each slab corresponds
- to the character whose portrait
- is inside the box.

- selecting the character picture
- will display the character
- screen. for information about
- this screen, refer to f6:
- character screen.

- directly to the right of the
- portrait, are two icons that
- indicate what you are holding.
- these are for information only
- and cannot be operated upon.

- above the portrait is a small
- text box that displays the
- characters name and current
- life status. if you wish to
- move a character, click on this
- box and then click on another
- box in the desired location.
